Summer Break
As I sit and contemplate this school year I have just returned from a breakfast in Paris (in the Primary building lobby). What a wonderful treat this Teacher Appreciation week has been. Walnut Farm has the most supportive and generous families. Thank you.
The end of a school year is always bittersweet to me. It is exciting to reflect back to the beginning of the year and see all the growth the children have made. Next fall will bring change. Some families will choose another educational journey for their child and the returning children will be a few inches taller, wiser and more mature than when they left for the summer.
The summer is a very special time for the children and the teachers. moving away from the structured work of the classroom to the slower pace of summer days giving the children and teachers an opportunity for renewal and growth.
Leonardo Da Vinci described this experience well:

Have a little relaxation,
For when you come back to your work
Your judgement will be surer;
Since to remain constantly at work
Will cause you to lose power of judgement.

Because the work appears smaller

So take this time to slow down and live in the moment. Spend as much time with your child as you can. It is their greatest desire to be with you.
